Faith in Jesus is faith in a flesh and blood body. Yet the Church’s relationship with flesh and blood bodies is complicated, to say the least. Young adults are often hyper-aware of the spoken and unspoken messages that churches give about bodies——around gender, sexuality, ability, race, ethnicity, size, health, power, and more.

In this extended seminar, we will unpack the stories we tell about our bodies, the ones we are aware of and the ones we may not realize, so that we can more intentionally cultivate spaces for young adults to grow in faith. Some of the things we will explore include how our bodies interact with Scripture, the ways we embody faith, and the power dynamics of bodies in various spaces.
